While Deep Creek National Park remains temporarily closed following recent bushfires, this thoughtfully designed half day coastal experience offers a meaningful and enjoyable way to stay connected with the landscape, wildlife and recovery story of the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Hosted by Deep Creek Experiences, the journey begins with return transfers from Lady Bay, travelling along the spectacular southern coastline to Wirrina Cove.

Duck Boat Coastal Wildlife Journey

From Wirrina, guests board a unique duck boat coastal tour, exploring secluded bays, rugged cliffs and pristine marine environments that form part of the greater Deep Creek ecosystem.

This relaxed water-based experience provides opportunities to observe coastal birdlife, changing geology and the remarkable meeting point of land and sea that defines this region.

Native Food Picnic at Historic Rapid Bay

Following the coastal cruise, the experience continues to Rapid Bay, one of South Australia’s most historically significant seaside locations and a place deeply connected to early European exploration of the state.

Here, guests enjoy a curated native-inspired gourmet picnic overlooking the Southern Ocean, featuring seasonal local produce and uniquely Australian flavours that reflect the surrounding landscape.

During this relaxed beach gathering, your hosts share:

  • The ecological importance of Deep Creek National Park and its diverse flora and fauna
  • Recent bushfire impacts on habitat, wildlife and community
  • Conservation, regeneration and sustainability efforts supporting recovery
  • How responsible tourism contributes to the long-term protection of the region

A Gentle and Meaningful Alternative

This half day experience has been carefully created to respect national park closures while continuing to share the spirit of Deep Creek through coastline, storytelling and food.

It is relaxed, accessible and deeply connected to place, offering guests a memorable Fleurieu Peninsula experience while directly supporting local recovery, conservation awareness and regional resilience.

As conditions improve and Deep Creek National Park reopens, Deep Creek Experiences looks forward to once again guiding guests within the park itself.

Until then, this coastal discovery provides a beautiful and purposeful way to experience the region.
